Mahogany and Planetree burl humidor
This is a handmade cigar humidor made from Honduran mahogany and planetree burl on the top. The corners are mitered and reinforced with a mahogany dovetail key which is functional as it is beautiful. The humidor is lined with 1/4" solid Spanish Cedar, making it superior for aging your fine cigars. There is a solid brass knob on the front and the hinges are solid brass Brusso hinges that have an integrated stop incorporated into them. The mahogany was finished on both the outside and the inside with a polyurethane varnish before the Spanish Cedar was applied to lessen the transfer of moisture from the inside of the box out through the mahogany. This is both to help the box last for years and to help keep the inside humidity a bit more stable and sealed.
The exterior dimensions are approximately:
Width: 12 1/2"
Depth: 9 1/2"
Height: 4 1/2"
As for the interior:
Width: 10 1/2"
Depth: 7 1/2"
Height: 2 1/2"
This should give you room to store about 20 Presidente cigars. There is a Cigar Caddy humidifier mounted to the top rated for 50 cigars. There is also a Hydroset 2 to monitor temperature and humidity levels.
There are a couple of things worth noting in regards to use. First, please remember to use only distilled water in the humidifier or a combination of distilled water and propylene glycol (which is said to out perform straight water). Second, while the Hydroset 2 is often times pretty darn accurate right out of the box, you may wish to get something like the Boveda One-Step Calibration kit just to make sure. Lastly, these humidors are made in a semi-arid climate. It may take a couple of days (and perhaps a refill of the humidifier) to get the inside of the box up to humidity. The box may also swell a bit and get a little more difficult to open.
